Auditions

1. Read about our group at the bottom of this page
So you can get a feel for what we do!
2. Fill out the audition form
Complete our audition form and submit a 60–90 second clip of yourself singing any song a cappella (no backing track or accompaniment). The video will need to be uploaded to YouTube either publicly or privately and then you can add the link to it in the form when you fill it out.
All auditions are due by Friday, October 23.
3. Watch for a callback invitation
We’ll review auditions and respond to everyone by Monday, October 26 to let you know whether we’d like to invite you to a callback.
4. Attend the callback
Callbacks will take place during our first Winter Season rehearsal on Tuesday, November 17 from 6:30-8:00 PM at The First Presbyterian Church in Oregon, WI. We’ll provide rehearsal tracks, music, and additional instructions ahead of time so you have time to prepare. The callback is a chance for us to get to know you and hear how your voice fits into our established voice parts. It’s also a chance for you to get to know us and experience a rehearsal!
5. Find out if you’re in!
After callbacks, we’ll make our final decisions and let you know by Friday, November 20 whether we’d like to invite you to join us as an official member. If you’re cast, you’ll be invited to our December 1 rehearsal as a full member and can jump right into our Winter Season! Our winter season is mostly rehearsing on your own. We bring it all together in just 4 rehearsals. Rehearsal tracks and music will be provided ahead of time.
How to Auditon
Please reach out to the director, Elisa, if you have any questions at elisa.kaether@gmail.com
New to A Cappella?
That’s okay! You don’t need to have extensive a cappella experience to audition. We’re looking for singers who are excited to collaborate and perform. Many of our members come from casual singing in their car to being a part of formal chruch choirs. We’ve found that what matters most is how willing you are to show up, put in the effort and be part of the group.
There are only 10 audition slots left at this time (10/7/26) , so we encourage you to submit your audition ASAP if you're interested!
About The Drama A Cappella Group
The Drama A Cappella Group, founded in 2024, is a community-based vocal ensemble located in the Madison, WI area. We operate in “seasons” to keep our music preparation, part assignments and event planning organized and intentional. Membership in The Drama is by audition and once you’re in, you’re welcome to stay with the group indefinitely.
We have flexibility with our seasonal schedule: members may take off the winter season (November–mid-December), and may also take off the spring/summer season (February-August) as long as their voice part remains well-covered. Members may not take off back-to-back sessions. All members get a break for the month of September, October and the month of January where we have optional participation for things like auditions and season planning. Our winter season is very simple, usually learning or re-using 3-4 holiday or winter songs to use for various gigs. Spring is preparation of our 10-12 song setlist for our big end-of-summer show that we perform at the Oregon Performing Arts Center. Summer rehearsals consist of adding mvoement to our setlist as well as scripting and props to put on our big show!
To help the group run smoothly, we have a seasonal membership fee: $20 for the winter season and $60 for the spring/summer season.
Rehearsal Expectations
We rehearse weekly on Tuesdays from 6:30–8:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Oregon, WI (with occasional Tuesdays off for holidays or breaks).
Members are expected to:
-
Attend at least 80% of rehearsals (about one absence every other month).
-
Practice their music outside of rehearsal - since we meet only once a week, individual practice is essential.
-
Use the provided rehearsal tracks and participate in sectional meet-ups as needed.
-
Scheduled "catch up rehearsals" are provided by the director 2-3 times per season.
